Motion Systems Technology Toolbox
The toolbox contains various MST tools one can consider in plant or facility automation. This is in support of
automation production modules. An example of this is a machine that caps bottles. Before and after the bottle is
capped, there is a system to bring the empty bottle to the capper and take the capped bottle away, put it in cases,
store it in warehouses, and deliver it to modes of transport for distribution to the ultimate consumer thought various
channel levels. It replaces labor intensive and slow production capabilities with capital investment yielding higher
efficient production, less labor and more flexibility in responding to marketplace demands.
The application of MST can be in either manufacturing of goods, processing of products, or in the provision of
services (or any combination of these). The purpose is to gain intelligent production efficiencies needed in today's
environment while planning upgrades for tomorrow.
In summary, it supports the processing of goods or services. Why? To meet the consumers demand for goods -
where they want it and when they want it at a competitive price. To be a part of the market in the future and meet
the ever more stringent customer demands, business must continually improve its abilities to deliver what the
consumer wants when they want it.

Management Information Systems Toolbox
The toolbox contains various MIS tools one can consider in business and operations automation. This may be an
effort in business efficiency or in support of plant and facility automation. An example of this is a desire by a
consumer to buy a widget. Convenience, lack of hassle, price, quality, support after the sale, etc are all factors to
consider in how this transaction is handled. Before and after the sale (transaction) there are business processes.
Before the sale is "channeling of product" to make it known and convenient for the buyer to purchase, production
efficiencies to make it price competitive, efficient supply chain management that makes the product available when
and where the customer wants it and replenishes the product cycle.
There is a need for a business system to be efficient so reduction in administrative overhead, rework, etc. on
products can be reduced. Again this drive to make price competitive quality products and service to the customer.
This is all in an effort to "get the transaction." Without the basic transaction, there isn't any business.
The focus today is on reaching seamless enterprise status by combining automation capabilities, both motion
systems technology in production and delivery platforms and business management information system technology,
with various strategic partnering to gain more transactions for business growth. The new vehicle for growth is
expanded channels and increased productivity using the above along with the electronic highways of the internet and
intranet.
