management, control and/or finance. They
are put forward for the benefit of Project
Executive Group subscribers.

- Avoid notorious clients or contractors
- Avoid loser projects (use your established "screening" method)
- Do not take or give work below cost
- Do not sign overly complex contracts
- Do not sign unreasonable contracts
- Do not sign contracts without legal counsel review
- Do READ (NOT Scan) the proposed contract, all drafts and changes, and final.
- Do hold comprehensive, well prepared alignment meetings, internal AND external
- Do hold comprehensive, timely and thoroughly communicated PEP (Project
Execution Plan) and PPM (Project Procedures Manual)
- Do USE your establishing and continually improved checklists in planning and
estimating
- Put effective and timely change notification procedure and system in place on day
one!
- Do read (and understand fully) the Project Scope of Work — and adhere to it — but
not one bit more — do not allow over-design
- Prepare and follow master and detailed work schedules — E, P and C, possibly 0 &
M
- Get the best possible people on your project
- Build teamwork
- Add some more
